We’re Doing This!

The mission is a hive of activity right now. Things are getting cleaned up, sorted out, pruned, raked, planted, prettied up and beautified.

For the past two years or so Chris and I and the board have been talking about our current location and why we feel it’s important to relocate to a safer area. Chris and I have been doing a lot of research. We’ve spent time visiting a particular area. We’ve visited 6 churches in that zone to introduce ourselves and explain why we think the area would be good for us to move to. We have a piece of land picked out and are starting to move forward on stuff for the purchase.

One great thing is that the mission owns the current property, and with all the work we’ve put into it we’re pretty sure we can recoup everything that will be invested in developing the new site. The hive of activity is due to the fact that this week we have an appraiser coming to look at things so we know how much the property is worth. We’ve already started telling people that it’s going up for sale and we’ve been encouraged by the interest already shown, but we need to be able to tell them how much we’re selling it for. It’ll be interesting to see who ends up buying it and what we get for it. We had an idea about what we thought it was worth, but a Haitian friend of ours laughed at us when we told her because apparently beach property is a hot commodity right now.

So, here we go. We’re moving forward. We’re putting the pieces in motion to do this thing. It’s exciting and a little scary!

Exciting! You should move up to Laboule! We’d love to have you as neighbours….and the climate is wonderful…..for Haiti!

    • Ha ha! Can you imagine? The climate would be SO wonderful but the city, not so much :) How are you guys? We were up in your neck of the woods with Chris’ parents last week and I was thinking about you and the fact that we’ve been lame about being in touch.
