At Clean Water for Haiti we know that it’s important for people to catch our vision. We know that connecting with what we do first hand is a vital part of that. People need to come to Haiti and be here.
What we do is technical and it can’t be learned and replicated in a few days. We also have a fully trained staff of 17 people that take care of not only the day to day details of making our filter program work, but also any other projects around the mission. It makes it difficult for people to come to Haiti on a typical “missions trip” – a short term visit generally with the goal of completing or participating in some sort of project like building a building or running a medical clinic.
We want people to come and visit us so we’ve created Vision Trips.
Vision Trips are a one week visit to our mission base in Pierre Payen. During the visit you’ll have a chance to work in the work yard alongside our staff and learn all the nitty gritty details of what we do every day. You can participate as much as you want to. We will also try to work things out so you can go out with our staff on a delivery day to see where the filters are going and meet some of the people that are receiving them. During the week you will get a chance to see some of the local area and also meet some of the other people we know that are doing some good things in Haiti.
Our Vision Trip dates for 2010 are:
March 20-27, 2010
June 19-26, 2010
August 7-14, 2010 – FULL!
October 9-16, 2010
The cost of each Vision Trip week is $500 US per person. This fee covers all of your food, accommodation in our onsite dorms, and all in country transportation. We’ll meet you at the airport and look after you well while you’re with us. Each visitor is responsible for their own airfare but we’ll assist with helping you know which flights to book into and out of Haiti.
We try to keep Vision Trips small by capping them at 6 people per week so that we can really focus on our visitors and make it the best experience possible. If you have a group of people that want to come, but the dates above don’t work for you, just let us know. We can check our calendar and see if something else will work. At this time we only host visitors over the age of 18.
To register for a Vision Trip week please email Leslie at office@cleanwaterforhaiti.org. We would love to have you visit us in Haiti so we can share more of our lives with you.

I love the new site, and I’m excited to see that there are vision trip dates for next year! Can I encourage people from our church to think about one of these dates if they are interested in coming to visit? We’ve had lots of people asking!
Hi Sara!
Absolutely! Please pass the word and get people to contact me about registration info. We have a whole package of info that we can pass on to help people get ready for their trip.
Are you two still having volunteers coming in on Vision trips this spring/summer? I have written to a few other groups and not heard anything from anyone; I can’t even imagine how this past month has impacted your lives. I am hoping that someone is making plans to continue bringing in volunteers to help with the basic needs that are not medical. I know I can come down with one of the “big guys” but I’d like to come in with a grassroots NGO group.
I’m praying about your adoption. We brought home three older boys from Ethiopia in September, our process was extremely fast; my heart goes out to you guys and the stress and frustration you are enduring.
Take care,
Gretchen

Your mission brings joy to my heart. I have a calling to help with my hands and feet. I am married. My wife does not share my calling. I am a project manager (Mechanical Contractor – pipe fitter) in the US (Frederick, Maryland). I am searching for someone like your mission that could use my proffessional skills in a Christian Faith based operation. I am not sure you could use my skills from a remote place like Frederick MD, I would be willing to try. I am very creative when posed with a conceptual need or project. I have alot to learn on how to help internationally but I am willing to learn how I can help. My prayers are with you and the live of the people you can help.
God Bless You Guys! I was in Haiti (EBAC Orphanage in Cap Haitian) this past June for 10 days and it changed my life!
