It’s Raining, It’s Pouring…

I remember the rest of the rhyme. My mom used to sing it to me when it was raining out. Yesterday we had one of those rare, blissful days where it rained for most of the day. It actually started the evening before and then again yesterday morning and then just kept raining through the night. Hurricane season had officially started! Under most circumstances I wouldn’t be that excited because I know they cause a lot of destruction. When it’s sweltering hot though one of the best feelings ever is being able to put on a pair of pants. There’s something comforting about it, like wrapping up in your favorite blanket. Sleeping with the rain is also a treat. Chris and I got to sleep in a bit this morning because our workers didn’t come until things cleared up a bit. I figure there could be worse ways to start a Monday.

Yesterday we had the first missionary gathering since we’ve been back. There were only four of us, but it was nice to get together and visit. We do a bit of a Bible study and I was realizing how much I’m hungering for that right now. It’s easy for me to get wrapped up in things and to try and do them on my own, but that’s only going to get me so far. At some point I’ve got to remember to let go and trust God a bit more. Being surrounded by chaos can provide many opportunities.

Well, I think I’m going to go join my husband on the deck and watch the water.

About Leslie

I'm Leslie. Wife. Mother. Missionary. In the day to day my husband and I are responsible for running Clean Water for Haiti, a humanitarian mission that builds and distributes water filters to Haitian families. Living in Haiti full time provides lots of stories, and as I tell my husband, our grandkids probably won't believe most of them. Maybe writing them down will give me some credibility.
