Why a picture of food? Well, it’s food. It’s in a styrofoam container. It’s what we affectionatly refer to as take out, and it was dinner last night. Yes, it’s true. We had take out for dinner. There’s a little place (read: shack built against a wall) down the road that makes BBQ chicken. We’ve had supper there before, but have never bought it to take home. We were on our way home around dinner time so Chris suggested we stop. For $30 Haitian (about $4 US) you get two thighs, two legs, about 10 pieces of banan frit (fried plantain), piklis (a combo of onions, shallots, vinegar and peppers -very spicy), and ketchup and incredibly hot hot sauce. Chris bought two containers before he saw how much food was in each. We now know one will feed both of us easily. $2/person for a meal. Not bad if you ask me. And I didn’t have to cook. Even better.

About Leslie

I'm Leslie. Wife. Mother. Missionary. In the day to day my husband and I are responsible for running Clean Water for Haiti, a humanitarian mission that builds and distributes water filters to Haitian families. Living in Haiti full time provides lots of stories, and as I tell my husband, our grandkids probably won't believe most of them. Maybe writing them down will give me some credibility.
