Playing in the Dirt

I just came in from working in the garden. I’m tired. Right now we have papaya and banana trees. Quite a few of them actually, and a bunch of them are giving fruit. I was working at cutting back a bunch of the weeds because things have gotten to the point of just being over grown. My method of choice was hacking away at things with the machete. There is a bit of technique to it. If you can stick your butt out and get a nice swing in front you can get a good chop in without hurting yourself. My ultimate goal is to dig up a good sized patch and actually grow some vegetables. I’ve already got squash, corn, cucumbers and tomatoe seeds started. Not much happening yet, but that’s good because it gives me more time to muster up the ambition to go make the garden patch. Fun, fun!

About Leslie

I'm Leslie. Wife. Mother. Missionary. In the day to day my husband and I are responsible for running Clean Water for Haiti, a humanitarian mission that builds and distributes water filters to Haitian families. Living in Haiti full time provides lots of stories, and as I tell my husband, our grandkids probably won't believe most of them. Maybe writing them down will give me some credibility.
