If you’ve read the previous post you’ll know there’s a lot wrapped up in hosting a team of visitors for any mission. One of the greatest struggles we have here at Clean Water for Haiti is that our Haitian staff runs everything and we don’t feel like we have a huge amount of work for people to do when they come. We know that when people go on a “missions trip” they want to go home feeling like they’ve accomplished something. It’s hard for us to do that here because of the way our programs are set up, but we also know the value, not only to the mission, but also for visitors, of coming and being here in person.

Enter VISION TRIPS. Vision Trips are our revamped version of a “missions trip”. These week long visits to our base in Pierre Payen will give people an opportunity to work with our staff as they build, deliver and install Biosand filters in Haitian homes. Working alongside our staff will give you an appreciation for how hard Haitians can work, trust me. Seeing the families that are receiving a filter and knowing that it will change their life will change yours too.

By keeping teams small with no more than 6 people in each group we will also be able to get out and show visitors our local area, and maybe meet some other missionaries and see what they do. Haitian church is also on the list of activities for those that are interested, and for those that just can’t help but help out we’ll make sure we have some time set aside to work on projects at the mission that we’ve been putting off.

We have four weeks scheduled this year for Vision Trips:

March 17 – 24
March 31 – April 7
October 20-27
November 3 – 10

The cost for your week of in country adventure is $500 US and that includes all food, accommodation in our on site dorms, and all in country transportation. Each Vision Tripper is responsible for their own airfare and we will assist you with travel arrangements where possible.

We know that people are passionate about what they’ve experienced first hand. Our hope is that after spending a week with us at CWH you will be passionate about the work we are doing here and the needs that Haiti has, so much so that you will want to go home and share that with everyone you know. That enthusiasm provides us with much needed support and encouragement.

If you want to get more information about VISION TRIPS or to register you can email me, Leslie, at We would love to see you!

About Leslie

I'm Leslie. Wife. Mother. Missionary. In the day to day my husband and I are responsible for running Clean Water for Haiti, a humanitarian mission that builds and distributes water filters to Haitian families. Living in Haiti full time provides lots of stories, and as I tell my husband, our grandkids probably won't believe most of them. Maybe writing them down will give me some credibility.
