Not Live From Seattle Because It Was Written On Tuesday

We’re in Seattle. Got here on Sunday around noon after a night in Bellingham where we saw friends and spent an evening on the beach eating oysters around a fire. It’s our little thing that we started last summer on our honeymoon. Chris has this spot where you can find fresh oysters when the tide goes out.

Yesterday I did something I haven’t done in I don’t remember how long. I took a vehicle and went off on my own for some “retail therapy”. Chris and I are always together. Always. With the exception of him going to do un-fun errands. It was nice to have some Leslie time in the first world and not feel like I had to rush back to entertain Chris. Joel has that job until tomorrow morning.

We’ve had fun visiting here in Seattle and seeing baby Devyn, Joel and Trina’s newest addition. I don’t have pictures available yet, but will try to get something up when we get back to Haiti from our whole vacation so you know that we really went and weren’t just pretending. Last night Chris’ sister came over and brought tons of meat with her. She just started working at an exotic meat wholesaler so she treated us to some ostritch and other goodies. It was so good, but our bodies aren’t used to eating like that anymore and there were some Tums consumed.

I’ve got most of our bags packed for Haiti. We leave for LA tomorrow, but need to check bags etc so we’ll be trying to live out of our carry-ons for the next 5 days just to simplify things. I’m impressed with the fact that despite all of the stuff we’ve gotten and are bringing back we’re still underweight on everthing! It’s always a fun game of fill the bag, weigh the bag, move things around, weigh the bag, pray, get excited when you get it all figured out.

About Leslie

I'm Leslie. Wife. Mother. Missionary. In the day to day my husband and I are responsible for running Clean Water for Haiti, a humanitarian mission that builds and distributes water filters to Haitian families. Living in Haiti full time provides lots of stories, and as I tell my husband, our grandkids probably won't believe most of them. Maybe writing them down will give me some credibility.
